As the Norfolk Bowls Association season comes to a close, there are still plenty of games left in the Cromer & District league and NANSA leagues, with the Cawston Floodlite league yet to come, along with friendlies and club competitions. We closed out the Association season at the Marrams, with a 3-2 win, which was the reverse of our home fixture when they won 3-2. Honours even! The final table can be viewed here.
Bowls England have recently revamped their website - you may wish to take a look here. They hope they have made it easier to navigate.

In a close contest the winner of the Graveling Cup this year is Liz Holehouse with a score of +9. Close behind with a score of +8 were Ivor Cooper, Brenda Whale and Tony Cox and in 5th with a meritorious score of +7 was Dave Ewer. Congratulations to Liz on winning the cup and a free drink from Eric when he returns from his sojourn!
The sheet is up in the pavilion for entries into The President's Cup, which is the next club trophy, to be played for on Saturday 3rd August. Good food and red, white and blue is the order of the day. See below for a reminder of last year's sartorial elegance.
As we leave June and ease gently into July, we can look back on a good couple of weeks. Two more wins in the Norfolk Bowls Association, 3-2 away at Reepham Nomads and 3-2 at home to RG Carter keeps us at or near the top of the table.
We progress into the semi-finals of the NANSA Triples Cup after a 2-leg overall shots win against Erpingham. The away leg was tight with only 3 shots between the teams but a comfortable home leg saw us through.
Sheets are on the notice board for the Graveling Cup (Saturday 13th July) and first friendly against Wellesley at home (Saturday 20th July), so make sure to add your name if you are interested in playing in either of these.
Club Competitions matches are proceeding well with many 2nd round fixtures now confirmed. A note if you arranging games, green maintenance is scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings going forward, so avoid these times. Friendly, social rollups are Tuesday mornings.
News from the bar - the introduction of pickled eggs has gone down a storm, with a full jar consumed in less than one week! More jars of pickled eggs and packets of salt & vinegar crisps are on order...
...and the winner is Arthur Bell with +20, with Uncle John runner up on +12!! Well done to Arthur who will be presented with the shield at the Annual Dinner.
The next club cup competition will be the Graveling Cup and will be on Saturday 13th July, so look out for the sheet in the pavilion which should appear soon.
Two evenings, 2 cup games - Fermoy Cup and Bales Cup.
We finally were able to play some bowls this week as the weather changed for the better. On Thursday we hosted Cawston in the Fermoy Cup on both rinks, as their green was unplayable. Cawston got the better of us in this one on both rinks and progress to the next round. In the Bales Trophy we hosted Aldiss Park and we won on all 3 rinks, so we progress to meet R G Carter in the next round after they got the better of Reepham Nomads. This game will take place at Suffield Park on Friday 21st June 6.30pm.
This afternoon is a chance for another club member to win some silverware as we play for the Charity Shield. Weather should be fine :)
With the recent period of bad weather several games have had to be cancelled. Here are some details of rearranged fixtures:
Wellesley B.C. (away) - Sunday 4th August
Perkins Retired (home) - September, date TBC
NBA - North 1:
Cromer Marrams (home) - Monday 1st July
Cromer & District:
Trunch (home) - Wednesday 28th August
Looking forward to some sunshine next week!
Due to popular demand and a result of several visitors to the area inquiring about them, there will be casual rollups every Tuesday from 10am going forwards. This is a chance to have a friendly roll up, for visitors to play and a good opportunity to play in house club competition games.
